Continuous personalization

Overview

Continuous personalization is designed to increase user engagement by providing your audience with the best possible experience available via personalized listening mode, based on each user’s listening behavior.

Information and feedback regarding whether a user ‘liked’ or ‘disliked’ content, preferred a particular topic over another or chose to skip a burst is leveraged to improve the user’s listening experience in real-time.

Enabling personalized listening mode

Personalized listening mode can be simply enabled through the usage of these 2 APIs:

  • API 1.4 - Get Analytics Supported Actions
  • API 3.3 - Update User Listening Identity

Instructions

1. Get Analytics Supported Actions - use this API to get the full list of actions we support.
We recommend using the following actions from the entire list to achieve optimal results.

  • Play - User clicked, tapped or used a voice command to play audio.
  • Playing - Audio file is being played. Send this action every 10 seconds while audio is playing.
  • Skip - User clicked, tapped or used a voice command to skip the current burst.
  • Pause - User clicked, tapped or used a voice command to pause play of the current burst.
  • Repeat - User clicked, tapped or used a voice command to repeat the current burst.
  • Back - User clicked, tapped or used a voice command to go back to a previous burst.
  • thumbsUp - User tapped on Like.
  • thumbsDown - User tapped on Dislike.

2. Post Update User Listening Identity - Use this API to post users supported actions. Send user activities back to Audioburst’s engine so it can learn from and improve the user’s listening experience.
